This article discusses how to establish better study habits while stressing less. There were lots of good ideas in this article. One of the ideas that is perhaps most useful is to make use of ordinary time. For example, while washing the dishes, I can think about a paper that I am going to write later this evening. This would allow me to come up with creative ideas, while leisurely thinking about the upcoming project. By the time I get to the project, I will complete it quicker and because the project was well thought out, it would probably be better too. I streamlined my efforts and made dish washing a bit more interesting.

 

Note: The above is an example from a student looking to enhance performance, while reducing stress.

 

To find your goal, think of one thing that you would like to accomplish over the next year. It does not have to be something very intense to be valuable.

For example, you may decide you wish to drink 8 glasses of water a day or you may decide that you are going to journal for ten minutes a day. Remember, no matter how small the goal, with tiny steps a great deal can be accomplished in one year. One year of proper hydration will change the appearance of hair and skin, will increase metabolism, support kidney and liver functions, and enhance athletic performance. The list of benefits goes on and on. Journaling for only 10 minutes a day has been shown to enhance feelings of relaxation and interconnectedness.

Studies have shown that simply keeping a gratitude journal and writing in it daily, can improve reported levels of happiness.
